SMS Funding

I saw an advertisement from the ministry offering a $2000 grant to be used for SMS PLD.

I applied in June and was accepted.

We used $562.00 for the Principal and Kerry to explore attendance reporting and Enrolment procedures. 

I had 3.5 hours PLD exploring progress reporting, how to use the app, setting up guidance ESOL reporting. I also discovered a problem with transferring data from E-asTtle and Etap. I contacted the ministry as it has a problem where anything below 2B comes as <2B rather than the exact level. This is completely frustrating in Writing where we want the exact level.

I explored pupil groups and setting up the new ESOL groups for T3 and T4. Another idea was to set up Team groups so team leaders can filter for the data from their own teams.

I also set up a summary progress report that Kerry can print off when a child leaves our school. 

This PLD session was very useful. We will be using the balance of the money to create a reporting template on Etap.

• Support teachers in data entry, retrieval and analysis on eTAP
• Monitor data entry
• Analysis of data for class, team and schoolwide purposes when appropriate
• Assist Principal in preparing data reports for Board of Trustees and Ministry of Education when required

E-asTTle Problems

One of my tasks as Assessment leader is to prepare the E-AsTtle assessments in Term 2 and 4.

One of the difficulties is that the ministry who manages AsTtle do not recognise Year )'s so these children can not be uploaded from ETAP to E-AsTle. I have problem solved alot and read on forums that the only way this can be rectified is by manually entering these children as Year 1's.

Another problem I have is that a few children have been entered on ETAP with different names as on ENROL. This causes errors when uploading as if these are not the same it will not export correctly.

One child we had did not fit all 7 middle names onto ETAP but all those names were on ENROL so it would not match. I had to get Kerry to go into ENROL and remove one name so that it would work.

ETAP help desk were very helpful with getting me to overcome these issues.
