Rainbow Reading

We reviewed the Literacy interventions this year. We were wanting something high interest but with low reading age to attract our senior boys that were working below standard.
We examined the Rainbow Reading Toxic series. This fitted the needs of these students so we purchased the toxic series and the teacher aids ran this for the Year 5-6 students who were working below standard.

We also purchased a sample from the white/silver levels for the Whare Manaaki junior students. This was very popular so next year we will increase the resources to get the next levels red, yellow, orange.

I also completed an intervention report examining the effectiveness of the Literacy interventions.

Reading Together

I have been running 3 terms of Reading Together now.
It is a fabulous Home/School support programme in which all of the parents we have had have benefited from.
We have trialled different time slots (During the day, after school and evening) and it seems during the day is the most popular.
I also took the course to a parents education group (The Solomon Group) and presented to them which was a success. (see below)
