Communications using ETAP App

This new app by ETAP allows me to communicate with Patents and Whanau easily. I can just search the Parents details and can send a text or phone them at the push of a button. This also allows us to send group texts in an emergency. I sent home a newsletter to all parents asking for their up to date email addresses and mobile numbers

In case of an emergency we will be able to contact them. I will need to check these numbers are correct every 6 months or so. 

Communications with Whanau

This year I have been reflecting on communicating with Whanau.
We introduced a new term one Goal setting meeting where the child attended. The child shared their current levels, where they need to be and some things that will help them get there. They used our goal setting class displays to help them do that.

We also gave Whanau the Supporting your child's Learning handouts to help them understand the standards better and how they could help at home.

Parents really appreciated these documents. They appreciated the writing sample and example of text at After 1 year so they knew where their child was heading. Much less abstract than us saying "Your child must be reading at Green level"

We discussed it as a class and decided we would make a movie and send it to her. The children wanted to thank her and show her the Duffy Books they had been given in Term 1.
